Über Goober nears completion! Sneak preview goes well! Planning for an official Theatrical Premiere some time in March.
We plan on entering Über Goober in the South by Southwest film festival. Should it be accepted, it will officially premiere there and we will include Spring screening dates and times.
There has also been tentative talk about screening Über Goober at this year’s Origins convention and potentially GenCon this summer. More news to follow on those as it becomes available.

Austin Filmmaker Presents Sneak Preview Screening of “Über Goober”
Austin, Texas – On Saturday, November 22nd, Austin filmmaker Steve Metze will screen selects from his documentary feature ÜBER GOOBER at the Red Lion Hotel as part of the Millennium 6 Convention. The film will begin at midnight and there will be an encore screening Sunday, November 23rd, beginning at 12pm. Each screening will be followed by a Q&A with the director.
Über Goober focuses on the often-misunderstood, sometimes-controversial, and always-kind-of-geeky world of Gamers. Metze examines several different groups including historical miniature gamers, role-players, and those known simply as “LARPers.” The film also explores opposition from religious groups, negative media portrayals ranging from sit-coms to post-Columbine news coverage, and some of the meanest ‘man-on-the-street’ interviews ever committed to video. Meet the Gamers, learn their exotic language, see their bizarre rituals, gasp at their semi-authentic costumes, and thrill to the painting techniques on their miniatures!
Steve Metze has produced, written, directed, and acted in a number of short films. He holds an MFA in Film and Video production and is currently a Lecturer in the Radio-Television-Film at the University of Texas at Austin. This is his first documentary, as well as his first feature.
Tickets to the November screenings will be available for $3 one hour prior to the screening at the Red Lion Hotel, 6121 North I-35 at Highway 290. Shot on MiniDV, the film runs 90 minutes and featured interviews include Dungeons and Dragons creator E. Gary Gygax, televangelist Bob Larson, author Mike Stackpole, and cartoonist John Kovalic.
For more information or to schedule an interview with the director, please contact Steve Metze at (512) 443-6498, or email info@ubergoobermovie.com.
